CLASSICON Monolith back

Eileen Gray not only created some of the most iconic furniture classics of the 20th century, she also ran a studio producing rugs based on her designs. Some of her finest designs are part of the ClassiCon rug collection. Monolith is based on Eileen Gray’s gouaches and pencil drawings from the 1920s. The design is characterized by beige horizontal and vertical lines of varying lengths that elegantly accentuate the earthy dark gray background. In places, the lines cross without touching, suggesting a structure that seems to divide the rug into square spaces of varying sizes. Hand-knotted from the finest 100% virgin wool and produced to the highest quality in Nepal, Monolith is yet another impressive design that puts the Irish designer’s artistic work in the spotlight.
