Thonet 118 Bar Stool

Minimalist and honest, slim and elegant: the classic wooden stool 118 from Thonet gives every bar or restaurant a subtly stylish look. The principle of reducing a wooden stool to as few components as possible was introduced by Michael Thonet in the mid-19th century. The refined details added by Sebastian Herkner make the stool less dominant and at the same time give it a more distinctive character. Another characteristic element is the shape of the chair legs. They are rounded at the back and slightly angular at the front, which creates a beautiful contrast.

The horseshoe-shaped seat’s one-piece bentwood frame is based on the traditional Thonet chair 214; the seat itself is handcrafted from woven cane. The cane version comes standard with a reinforcement under the cane to extend its lifespan. Chair 118 is also available with a moulded plywood seat. The footrest is made of chrome-plated steel.
