Ingo Maurer Oop's 2 Wall Lamp

The Oop's 2 Wall Lamp was designed by Ingo Maurer for the brand Ingo Maurer. In a style that is all his own, Maurer redefined lighting design with a tongue-in-cheek approach, taking the most mundane, everyday items and turning them into novel lighting accessories. Interested in technology, he made early use of luminaire innovations such as LEDs and OLEDs. Over the years, he accumulated accolades like the Compasso d'Oro, the German Design Prize and the British Royal Society of Arts Royal Designer of Industry Award.

With this lamp, Maurer used paper, steel and plastic and fashioned the Oop's 2 Wall Lamp to appear to be emerging out of the wall to which it is attached. The paper seems to be blowing in the wind but the spiral shape is actually a clever way to hide the lightbulb. The thickness of the paper was also intentional as it directs the beam of light downwards. Using the dimmer control situated on the 300cm long cable, the luminous intensity can easily be adjusted. The 30 x 20 cm Oop's 2 Wall Lamp is versatile enough to work in both homes and commercial spaces.
