Eileen Gray Transat Chair (1927)

The Transat chair was designed by Eileen Gray in 1927 and takes its name from the deck chairs of transatlantic ocean liners. Its cowhide sling seat, adjustable backrest, and tubular steel frame are unusual in that they feel equally influenced by high modernism and craft traditions.
