Thonet 118 Bar Stool

Sale price€575,00

Minimalistic and honest, slender and elegant: the classic wooden stool 118 from Thonet lends a subtly stylish appearance to any bar or restaurant. The principle of reducing a wooden stool to as few components as possible was introduced by Michael Thonet in the mid-19th century. The refined details added by Sebastian Herkner make the stool less dominant while simultaneously giving it a more distinguished character. Another distinctive feature is the shape of the chair legs. They are rounded at the back and slightly angular at the front, creating a beautiful contrast.

The one-piece bentwood frame of the horseshoe-shaped seat is based on the traditional Thonet chair 214; the seat itself is handcrafted from woven cane. The cane version is standardly delivered with reinforcement under the cane to extend its lifespan. Chair 118 is also available with a contoured plywood seat. The footrest is made of chrome-plated steel.
