VITRA Eames Fiberglass Chair DSX Wit

The Vitra Eames Fiberglass Chair DSX in white was designed by Charles & Ray Eames. While many are familiar with the Eames Plastic Chairs by Vitra, it may surprise you to learn that these chairs were originally made from fiberglass. For ecological reasons, polypropylene was chosen for production in the early 1990s. However, the chairs are now back in their original fiberglass form. The manufacturing process has been adjusted to make fiberglass more environmentally friendly. Unlike the polypropylene version – which is still in production – the fiberglass version features the recognizable fiberglass streaks, and each shell may have slight variations in color or small holes in the surface, which contribute to the beloved vintage look.

The chair is available in the original colors introduced in 1950: parchment, navy blue, orange, elephant hide grey, sea foam green, and raw umber. In the spring of 2019, the colors Ochre Light, Ochre Dark, and Classic Red were added to the collection.
