VITRA Eames Plastic Chair LSR

The Vitra Eames Plastic Chair LSR is a design by the American designer duo Charles & Ray Eames. The Eames Plastic Chairs are an innovative reinterpretation of the famous and iconic Fiberglass Chairs, which first emerged in 1948 and went into production in 1950. These new 'Plastic' versions have been in production since the 1990s. With its simple, organic shape, the chair has become the archetype of seating with a fixed shell and a variable base. The base is available in a rocking version, a swivel version, or a stackable version with brackets to link multiple chairs together.

Unlike the traditional fiberglass chairs, the Eames Plastic Chair LSR is made from through-colored polypropylene, which gives the shell of the plastic version more flexibility and a deeper, richer color. The seat is available in no less than fourteen colors. Additionally, the seat can be fitted with a cushion attached to the shell or fully upholstered in the Hopsak or Checker collections. The wire base with crossbars is available in chrome or powder-coated steel. The powder-coated version is also suitable for outdoor use.
