ClassiCon Pleated Lamp
With his Bell Table design, which heralded his collaboration with ClassiCon in 2012 and was the designer's first step towards international recognition, Sebastian Herkner turned our usual perception of materials upside down. Herkner achieves this effect again in a fascinating way with his Plissée Floor Lamp: the lampshade, like a sensual, weightless light balloon, balances on a metal base. The trick: what is reminiscent of artfully pleated textile is actually mouth-blown glass. An elaborate handcrafted production process makes this soft, textile-like visual effect possible and thus the realization of Herkner's vision. A dimmable LED light source creates the individually desired level of coziness. The design of the Plissée Floor Lamp thus unites traditional craftsmanship with an industrial component – and, not least because of this combination, bears the unmistakable signature of Sebastian Herkner.
